Life can bring seasons when having someone walk alongside you for a little while can make all the difference. As a counselor at Natural State Counseling Centers, Marcie believes counseling provides a supportive and compassionate space where individuals and families can feel heard, better understand what they are experiencing, and begin moving toward healing and growth.
One of the Scriptures that reflects Marcie’s philosophy of counseling is Proverbs 27:17: “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another” (ESV). She views the counseling relationship as a collaborative process—walking alongside clients rather than simply telling them what to do.
Marcie is a Registered Play Therapist and Autism Specialist by education and training and is also a certified Trauma Therapist. While she has specialized training in working with children, she has experience working with individuals across the lifespan. Her counseling approach primarily incorporates Adlerian, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution-Focused models, allowing her to tailor the counseling process to the individual needs, strengths, and goals of each client.
Whether she is working with a child, adolescent, or adult, Marcie recognizes that we are all continually learning and growing. Sometimes we are learning to understand what has hurt us, and sometimes we are discovering what helps us heal. Counseling can provide an opportunity to recognize personal strengths, develop new skills, better understand yourself and your relationships, and receive encouragement along the way.
Marcie is excited to be part of the team at Natural State Counseling Centers, where she looks forward to providing a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment for clients as they navigate life’s challenges and move toward greater hope, healing, and growth.
